BBM LEAWOOD REGISTRATION

The 2019-2020 BBM program year is off to a great start! To grab one of our few remaining spots, select Registration and follow the prompts to view the groups with current openings. Do this now as registration will soon close!  If you are interested in a group that is now full, you may select Registration and sign up on the Wait List for the group of your choice. In January (mid-year), we do fill any openings with those on the waiting list in the order received.

Please carefully consider the group descriptions and dates below before selecting a group to join; you won’t want to miss any of the meetings or take the spot of someone who can fully attend. Imagine the possibilities, in BBM 2019-2020!

BBM LEAWOOD MISSIONS

All BBM Leawood groups work together to support youth in foster care (or who have recently aged out), by providing basic hygiene items and home goods, important life skills, and educational scholarships. With no reliable family, limited life skills, and a long history of bouncing through various foster homes, most foster teens are ill prepared to manage their finances and function successfully on their own. Only about half of teens in foster care graduate from high school and a large percentage end up unemployed and homeless. Our BBM groups support and encourage teens preparing to age-out of foster care by: offering life skills events that focus on budgeting, money management, cooking, and manners/personal expectations. BBM groups also provide educational scholarships and college care packages to youth who have aged out of foster care and are attending college.

BBM LEAWOOD REGISTRATION FAQs

Please review our frequently asked registration questions.

When and how do I register?
The BBM Leawood program follows our local school calendar with the first meeting each program year in September and the last in May. Registration kicks off each year on Mother’s Day weekend (May) for the following program year (Sept). Visit this website for registration links when enrollment opens in May!

Is there a fee?
The membership fee of $45 for moms includes 13 meetings. If childcare is needed during meetings, church childcare staff provides care for $45 per child. Fees are collected during online registration.

Do BBM groups fill up?
Yes! Some groups fill to capacity right away in May, while others reach the maximum number during the summer.

What happens when a group fills to capacity?
When a group reaches the maximum number of members, a wait list is offered. If an opening occurs during the first few group meetings, those on the wait list are notified in the order they were received. Again in January, if any current members determine they are no longer able to participate, those on the wait list are notified according to the number of spaces available.

Why is there a maximum number of members?
Groups are held to a maximum number in order to allow friendships to form within table groups. Consistency is important for relationships to take hold and for moms to begin sharing their true bumps and blessings. An important network of moms who “get it” grows into a lifeline in this manner. Additionally, the volunteer leadership of each group is equipped through training sessions to manage a set number of participating moms, rather than an evolving set of new names and faces. Our goal is to accommodate every mom who is interested in joining!
